The Problem with Traditional Fuel Transfers

Every day, traditional hydrocarbon fuel transfers release vapours into the atmosphere, contributing to air pollution and posing environmental risks. These vapours contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can lead to harmful effects on both the environment and human health. As concerns about air quality and sustainability grow, it becomes increasingly important to adopt practices that minimize these impacts.

Tansley Associates’ Solution: The Closed-Loop Odorant Delivery System

Our Closed-Loop Odorant Delivery System is designed to address these challenges head-on. This system ensures that no emissions are released into the atmosphere during the odorant transfer process, unlike traditional systems.

Here’s how it works:

Vapour Containment

The system uses a vapour compressor to maintain the delivery pressure vessel at 40 PSI and the receiving pressure vessel at 10 PSI. This differential pressure facilitates the smooth transfer of odorant into the customer's vessel while simultaneously drawing vapour out.

Vapour Recycling

Instead of allowing this vapour to escape into the environment, our system redirects it back into Tansley Associates' pressure vessel. The vapour is continuously recycled, reducing the need for fresh odorant and minimizing waste.

Controlled Combustion

Eventually, the recycled vapour is combusted at a controlled site, ensuring that any emissions are managed safely and efficiently, further minimizing environmental impact.
